Blow It Out Your Bunghole!

After reading this post from my blog, hubby offered up an interesting factoid.  Of course its butt related . . . isn't it always?

I thought I knew what a bunghole was.  The best example I can think of is from Beavis and Butthead  . . . “I am the Great Cornholio, I need TP for my bunghole” . . . oh, don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Well, thanks to Mike Judge, that's what a lot of people think of when they hear the word 'bunghole'.

In actuality,  is a bunghole really is related to butts . . . scuttlebutts, that is. A bung is a stopper, often a cork plug.  Basically, you shove the bung in the scuttle to keep the butt from leaking.

Another fun fact . . . the terms bung and bunghole have been used as slang for anus as early as the 13th century.

Creamy Penne Pasta And Chicken

2 Chicken Breasts, Cut Into Bite Size Pieces
2 1/2 Cups Penne Pasta, Cooked As Directed
4 Tablespoons Butter
1 Garlic Clove, Crushed
1/3 Cup Onion, Sliced
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
4 Tablespoons Flour
1 (15 Oz.) Can Or 2 Cups Chicken Broth
1/2 Cup Sour Cream, Yogurt, Half-N-Half Or Whole Milk
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
Red Pepper Flakes, Optional
4 Ounces Sundried Tomatoes, Sliced
8 Ounces Shredded Parmesan Cheese

In a large skillet brown the chicken in two tablespoons olive oil.  Drain and set aside.

While the penne is cooking, melt butter in a medium sauce pan.  Cook garlic, sundried tomatoes and onions with 1/4 teaspoon salt, over medium heat, until onions have softened.

Puree onion mixture in a food processor or blender until chunky smooth. Move sauce back to pan. Add flour and cook 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add the chicken to the pan.  Stir in broth, stirring frequently until sauce comes to simmer.  Remove from heat.

Then stir in the sour cream until it has melted.  Then mix in the shredded cheese. Be sure the pasta is well drained, and then move to a large serving bowl.  Pour sauce over hot pasta, toss until well mixed.  Allow to stand a few minutes before serving, so sauce can thicken.  Top with shredded cheese, if desired.
